Studio Brief 2 / Theory Into Practice / Questions

I emailed Richard to clarify some fo the points made in the crit:

> should I stick to Rothko or look into other artists who considered colour their main communication tool
Look at other artists too. Any of the Abstract Expressionsits would do. Hans Hoffman, maybe Barnett Newman, Clyfford Still, Hans Hartung, Jackson Pollock

> Should I seriously consider arranging a small exhibition for the large prints?
Perhaps this is too ambitious, but could you photoshop them into an exhibition? Or even better, photoshop them into the Tate's website. I'm thinking something like this project by MONGREL, which hacks the Tate website, replacing all the old master paintings with collages os syphilitic sores. You could put your pictures up there and take screen grabs!

> Would the prints alone be adequate?
Yes, as long as there is supporting material, ideas development, a rationale etc on the blog

So going forward, I'm going to look into and attempt to recreate some of the above artists' work and also have a think about how to display these works.

I strongly want to screen print most or all of my final pieces, recreating the original sizes of the artworks, in order to clarify the precise concept of purely the process being the only difference between the outcomes.

Whether this will be feasible will be down to how I manage my time and booking of the screen print rooms etc.
