So far for my practical side of COP3, I've concentrated on creating one off pieces of work that stretch across the digital and handmade spheres of production. I feel that I'm definitely on the right lines with this and that pursuing this mechanical drawing will keep on producing intersting, genre bending work.
One thing i'm concerned about is the extension of this and also the final presentation of all of the pieces. I'm taking some high quality studio shots of hands later this week which will give me enough source material do do what I want with and hopefully keep up a level of visual interest across a range of mediums.
I still want to 3D print my hand - taking my work into a tangible dimension is something I've wanted to do for a while - but i'm no longer fully convinced it's necessary when the mechanical plotter works so well and fits the brief perfectly.
Going forward, I think it would be really interesting to get the plotter to draw something that was at first drawn by me... Maybe handwriting or something of that kind, I think that a machine drawing handwriting would undoubtedly be creepy and uncanny.
