I went into the talk with Richard with an idea of my question - 'To What Extent Does Luxury Branding Increase the Perceived Value of a Product'.
Richard liked the question and we discussed how this could extend into a the practical side of the project. We talked about the possibility of increasing perceived value by branding something very plain and inexpensive in the vain of luxury brands.
This understanding of technique and communication in order to increase value would come from studying the subject and undertaking the essay.
I want to come out of the project with a clear understanding of the techniques and theory behind successful branding which increases to a mass audience the perception of class and wealth. I'm focusing largely on the fashion sector, with the thought that it's probably easier to focus in on one section of the luxury brand market.
We both agreed that the project has a well rounded feel to it and revolves around a subject that I am very interested in, which should translate into the quality of the final piece.
